Gastroenterology
The aim of our Gastroenterological Center is to find the most proper solution for all diseases of stomach, intestine, liver, bile and pancreas and for all other digestive problems. Serious illnesses can be prevented by our screening tests, which help to recognize such diseases at stages when they can be fully cured.
Our medical examinations cover a detailed query of patients, laboratory tests (blood, urine, fecal) abdominal ultrasound examinations, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, as well as examination of other stomach and bowel diseases such as lactose- and gluten intolerance etc.
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is a 10-to-20 minute examination, where a so called colonoscope is used to check the whole large intestine. The examination can be executed in full or superficial narcosis. The patients can leave the office soon after the examination, but driving is prohibited for the day. The colonoscopy is performed by state of the art technology, using a Fuji video-endoscope. With this instrument polyps can also be removed promptly during the examination, if it is necessary.
Colonoscopy is used to diagnose inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease), tumors, and other reasons of bloody stool, modification of defecation habits in order to cure or treat them in the most efficient way.
In Hungary annually 8500 people falls sick of and more than 5000 people die in colorectal cancer - which is the second most common malignant disease in our country.
Colorectal cancer is asymptomatic for a long time and in most cases it evolves from benignant polyps.
By removing the polyps during the colonoscopy, the colorectal cancer can be prevented or diagnosed in its early phase.
Colorectal cancer diagnosed in its early phase is totally curable.
Gastroscopy
Gastroscopy is used for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of esophagus, stomach and duodenum (ulcer, inflammation, reflux disease, tumors etc.). This is an inconvenient but not painful examination and it takes only a few minutes. Samples can be taken for histological tests which give further information, for example, infection with Helicobacter pylori can be proved. The presence of Helicobacter can be diagnosed also by breath test without the help of gastroscopy. Breath test is used to find the reasons for several complaints.
Ultrasound
Abdominal ultrasound is used to scan the liver, gallbladder (bilestone!) kidneys, pancreas, bladder, prostate, uterus and ovary.
